As December comes around, many of us are busy with other things, family commitments, shopping etc.  But there can be good points to keeping your home on the market, or listing it in December.  Here's 10.

 

 

  1. Lack of competition:  Since everyone is so busy, many homes come off the market.  There are fewer buyers too, but your home has a better chance of standing out with fewer competitors.
  2. Relocation picks up.  Oftentimes, January is a big relocation month.  Guess when the folks being relocated tend to look for a new home?  Yep.
  3. Snow covers your yard.  Have a tough lawn?  Too many leaves?  Snow covers all.
  4. You'll only get showings from motivated buyers.  Part-time lookers take the month off.
  5. Christmas decorations can add life and depth to your home.  What makes a home more "homey" than a trimmed tree and lights? Not much.  Show the love you have for your home through seasonal decorations, and buyers will get the same love for your home!
  6. You're having company anyway.  And since you have to clean for them, you won't have to do special cleanings for showings.
  7. You're taking time-off.  Or should be.  That may help get the house ready when you're showing.
  8. No, you don't have to show the home on Christmas.  I won't say I've never been called for a showing, but almost never.
  9. You'll get more attention from your agent  - we're less busy too!
  10. You never know, Santa may bring you a full price offer!
