Halloween Nor'Easter is a Surprise, and Plenty Spooky.
It's always fun shoveling your driveway before the leaves have fallen. Well, not really.
The Nor Easter that blew through last night will have plenty of people in the dark - probably through Halloween, so I guess if there's an appropriate night to just have candles, this would be it. (Valentines Day a close second? You decide.)
This Nor'Easter was a tail of two storms - the one at higher elevations, like Shrewsbury, and the lower elevations, like Southborough. It caused widespread power outages in all areas, but in Southborough my driveway still had blacktop poking through, just 2 or 3 wet inches, while Shrewsbury looked like this:

The extra snowfall is not a fluke, many of us have noticed if you're higher up, you get a lot more snow. Each storm is different of course, but I bet on average Shrewsbury gets an extra 6-8 inches of the white stuff every year on average, and it might be more. That's 15 inches difference, and Southborough is halfway, so call it about 7.5 inches. If you prefer to shovel a little less, look for homes in towns at lower elevations. Might save you a turn or two with the shovel!
