Been too busy to write about this, but just a small pat on the back for myself for spotting that the Yanks didn't have the horses to go all the way. If they hadn't matched up against their annual doormat match with the Twins, they might have even gone down sooner. And it was the pitching and defense that let them down, as they failed to put to rest the $55 Million payroll Rangers.
Also, as noted earlier, this looks to be just a fascinating off season for the Yankees, who really need to make some big decisions about some guys that are not playing well. (It's in the books now, so we can say it, Jeter had his worst year offensively ever). They have to resign him, but for how much? And how long? Cashman certainly can't have any confidence that Jeter will bounce back to form, I mean, at that age, everyone's a risk (Just to be fair, he's still one of the most durable players in the game, and will go down in history that way). They've got some pitching issues, some untradeable contracts (A-rod). It will be worth watching. Look for some surprises when the world series winds down.
